Our Story

The Spark:   When "Classic" Was Contemporary

It didn't start with a hunt for "vintage" gear—it started with the raw energy of the moment. In the 1970s, the soaring solos and overdriven riffs of what we now call "classic rock" were the living soundtrack to my life. Back then, these sounds weren't historical artifacts; they were the cutting edge.

Hearing those iconic tones for the first time sparked a lifelong obsession, not just with the music, but with the tools of the trade. I became captivated by the alchemy of wood, magnets, and wire that allowed the greats to find their voice. That initial spark set me on a fifty-year journey to understand, collect, and ultimately share the finest instruments ever crafted.

The First Real Six-String

Every collector has the one that started it all. For me, it was a 1967 Gibson Melody Maker D. That guitar wasn't just an instrument; it was a gateway. It taught me the feel of weathered wood and the unique voice of vintage electronics.  Although I've had many more expensive vintage guitars pass through my hands, the Melody Maker remains special to me.

From the Front Lines

By the early 80s, I wasn't just playing; I was deep in the heart of the burgeoning guitar culture. A defining moment was the 1981 Dallas Guitar Show, where I found myself talking shop and negotiating a sale with the legendary Lita Ford. Those early days at trade shows and swap meets cemented my love for the chase—finding, trading, and preserving the instruments that carry stories in their finish.
