1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst

$8,500.00Price

The 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Silverburst is one of the most iconic and visually striking guitars from the "Norlin Era" of Gibson (1969–1986). While once considered a quirky departure from traditional sunbursts, it has achieved legendary status, largely due to its association with Adam Jones of Tool.

The Silverburst finish was produced in limited quantities between 1978 and 1982. By 1980, the model featured the characteristic "Norlin" construction traits: a heavy mahogany body, a maple top, and a three-piece maple neck.

What makes the 1980 model unique is the aging process. The nitrocellulose lacquer used in the 80s tended to "green" over time due to oxidation and UV exposure.   This example does not display the “green” as it has been carefully maintained and stored in its case.
